Ladislav Vrgoč, tenor

  • After graduating from the Classical Gymnasium in Zagreb, Ladislav Vrgoč studied solo singing at the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb in the class of prof. Marija Borčić, and the last two years in the class of prof. Zdenka Zabčić Hesky. He graduated in 1999.
  • In 2002 he graduated from the study of opera singing (Opernschule) at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart in the class of prof. Bruce Abel and prof. Stephan Schmidt. He also finished study “Lied” in the class of prof. Konrad Richter in the summer of 2002. Ladislav attends private lessons in French opera and “Lied” repertoire in Stuttgart with prof. France Simard-Bruse.
  • He dedicates himself to intensive work in the lyric and spinto opera roles through regular work with prof. Donald George (State University of New York, Potsdam’s Crane School of Music, USA).
  • Ladislav was the first-place singer of the 1999 Students Vocal Competition in Dubrovnik. He won the Rector’s Award of the University of Zagreb for the academic year 1998/99 as well as the Dean’s Award of the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb. He was a finalist in the master category of the Competition for Young Opera Singers of the Croatian National Theater Zagreb-Vero Vision in 2005.
  • He has performed in all major Croatian cities as well as abroad at numerous concerts and festivals (Slovenia, Serbia, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Israel, USA). The standouts from the more important festivals are: Varaždin Baroque Evenings, Zagreb Summer Evenings, Musical Evenings in St Donat, Osijek Summer of Culture, Osijek Musical Wednesday, Classics in Košljun, Dachauer Schlossfestspiele, Gothaer Sommerfestspiele etc.
  • The concert work includes all important oratorios and masses, as well as thematic Liederabends by German and French authors.
  • Solo and premiere performances in theaters: Playhouse on the Square Theater Memphis, Wilhelma Theater Stuttgart, Stadttheater Passau, Ekhof Theater Gotha, Stadtheater Pforzheim, CNT Zagreb, CNT Osijek.
  • From the season 2004/2005 he is on a permanent solo engagement in the Croatian National Theater in Osijek.
  • Ladislav recorded for Croatia records, Aquarius records and SWR Stuttgart.
  • He is fluent in German, English and French and passively uses Italian and Spanish.
  • In 2011, Ladislav Vrgoč was elected to the teaching title of Artistic Associate, and in 2020 was elected to the teaching title of Senior Artistic Associate at the Academy of Arts within the J.J. Strossmayer University of Osijek.
  • He is the Artistic Director of the classical music festival “Classics in Košljun” on the island of Krk.
